Welcome! You have made it to the application for the President's Leadership Program (PLP) at Colorado State University!
Before you begin filling out the application, we invite you to learn more about the President's Leadership Program at Colorado State University at our website: plp.colostate.edu. The first part of the application allows you to describe who you are to us. In the second part of the application, we'll share what our mission is and how we attempt to fulfill our mission. We would like to hear how you see yourself playing an active role towards helping us fulfill that mission. Finally, we'll leave an opportunity for you to ask any questions about anything you might still be curious about.
Overall this application serves as an opportunity to let us know your interest in learning more about the President's Leadership Program. After reading through your application, we will contact you to set up a 30 minute phone conversation to see if you want to make PLP part of your life-long leadership journey. If you have any problems or concerns with this application, please send an email to SLICE_PLP@mail.colostate.edu.
Each academic year, students apply to one of three different levels of the program. The levels are as followed:
Incoming first-year students are only eligible to apply to the first course/level of the program, called A Call to Lead.
Current CSU students, and transfer students are eligible to apply to either the first, second or third levels/courses, depending on foundational knowledge, and skills already acquired throughout their educational journey.
You can read more about each course/level here.
First Generation Do you identify as first-generation student? (At CSU, a first-generation student is one whose parents have not completed a bachelor's degree).
In the PLP classes, we introduce different frameworks to view leadership, challenge how we understand (and define) leadership, and critically examine and reflect on one’s own identities, as well as on local, regional, national and global issues as it relates to larger concepts discussed in class.
It is an expectation that students who accept their position within PLP commit to establishing a community that fosters learning, understanding, and reflection.
Can you please tell us about a social issue you are passionate about and why, and how you hope to apply what you learn in PLP to the issue you chose. (500 words maximum)
